About Rick

Rick HavingaRH Studio Photography really had some early beginnings. It started as a hobby way back in 1977. It all started when I was asked to help in instructing my Grade 9 photography club in highschool. I realized I actually had something to offer my classmates. Having a darkroom with my dad was some of the greatest experience I received in the technical know how of camera equipment. I started working with large film format and saw the benefits of understanding how light works. I knew my composition back then could of improved and so later on in my digital days, spend more time on composition and also seeing what trends were occurring in the photo business.

Here at RH Studio Photography we strive to offer a product that is timeless and classy. I will always try to capture your day with enthusiasm, fun and capturing your good looks and beauty in whatever shot I'm taking. Making kids laugh with my silly antics is one of my goals. One of my favourites is my high pitched Scooby Doo voice saying which always seems to get their eyes in my direction with a big smile. I enjoy working with kids for sure. With my wedding shoots, I always make sure my clients get top service for their dollar as I've been told by my previous clients. I try to have fun but also remember that I'm on the job and your day is very special and important. I strive for capturing the moment but will also give direction in the pose to make sure you look your best in any picture composition. I hope you consider me for your next photo shoot. My rates are fair and I offer a superior product that I know you will be pleased with so lets set a time and date for your next professional photo session.

Derek and Brittany's Wedding

5 October 2013

I got the pleasure to do an engagement shoot for these guys first at White Rock Beach. Little did I know I was booked for their wedding but we got it under control. This wedding took place at the Secret Garden out in Chilliwack. I got to hang out with Derek and his groomsmen at his parents place. Meanwhile I had my assistant Alan take care of Brittany and her bridesmaids. We started our day with two shooters and later met in the mid afternoon for the ceremony. The Secret Garden is a beautiful place out in the country just south of the freeway. After the ceremony and family formals, we later took bridal formal pics at Brittany's Aunts place just down the road. This place had some Victorian style hedges and tall evergreens completely giving us this private park feel. We later ended the day with the reception back at the greenhouse at the Secret Garden. It turned out to be a great day and no rain as was mentioned earlier in the weather app. Anyways, here are some pics from our wedding shoot this day.

Josh and Erin's Wedding

28 July 2013

This wedding took place at Heron's Bridge out in Abbotsford. Home of Bruce and Sylvia's place. Absolutely gorgeous. I got to hang out with Josh and his groomsmen at his parents place. Meanwhile I had my assistant Dianne take care of Erin and her bridesmaids at the Heron's Bridge Bridal Suite. We started our day with two shooters and later met in the mid afternoon for the ceremony. The Heron's Bridge offers everything from a large pond with a bridge to large green lawns to a putting place. After the ceremony and family formals, we later took bridal formal pics at the front of the house and around this luscious garden while the guests hung around and had some chill time till the reception took place. It turned out to be a great day with gorgeous sunshine and a beautiful outdoor reception under large white tents. Anyways, here are some pics from our wedding shoot this day.

Tyler and Sabrina's Wedding

21 July 2013

This wedding took place at Capilano Bridge out in North Vancouver.I was actually the second shooter on this one. A lovely place if you don't mind heights. I got to hang out with Tyler and Sabrina at the hotel they were staying at. We started our day at the hotel and getting shots in their separate rooms for the first few hours. By mid afternoon we headed to Capilano bridge for the ceremony. The ceremony took place in this nice open space where we could get shots of the whole attending party. After the ceremony we got the formals in with the bridal party and then returned later in the early evening to the restaurant and hotel where the reception took place. All in all it was a great day accept for me losing my Iphone 5. But thats another story, lol.
